New games releasing this week: July 24 – July 30
Fortnite, Nioh DLC, a new 3DS model, Hey Pikmin and a handful of niche titles make for a decent week all round.
Fortnite is the biggest news this week. The first new project Epic announced after Gears of War, it’s been in the works for almost six years took so long to reach its final form that the company managed to announce and release a whole MOBA, Paragon, before we reached paid early access. There are some appallingly expensive buy-in options available if you fancy this base-building survival team shooter free to play thing.
On PS4, those who had the guts and tenacity to struggle through Nioh and is first DLC are treated to another round of super tough action. Good for them.
If you like card games or Fable or both, the delayed release of Fable Fortune is upon us this week. Fans of Bastion and Transistor may be keen on Pyre, the new game from Supergiant – it’s a turn-based RPG with an unusual multiplayer mode. Later in the week well see Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls come to PC, so fans of murder-centric visual novels should check that out.
The 3DS gets a moment in the sun this week with the launch of the new New 2DS XL model. There are a handful of new games, too – Dr Kawashima’s Devilish Brain Training: Can You Stay Focused?, Hey Pikmin and Miitopia. If this is your first 3DS though, wow, there’s an enormous catalogue of great games waiting for you.
