[Gamescom 2017] BioMutant, a new open-world Action-RPG, revealed by THQ Nordic
Gamescom 2017 has been full of fun surprises, but if anything was lacking, you could argue that a new IP might top that hypothetical wish list. Enter BioMutant, a brand new open-world Action-RPG from THQ Nordic and independent developer Experiment 101. The game was revealed exclusively through IGN First with a cinematic game trailer and promises to give players the ability to mutate their characters' appearance and abilities on the fly.
Here's the trailer:
BioMutant's combat is described as a mix of martial arts with firearms, and its world is yet another take on the post-apocalyptic. The game will feature mechs, paragliders, balloons, mounts, and jet skis along with enough character choice to give each player their own unique hero. The development team is made up of former Just Cause 3 and Mad Max devs, so there's reason to expect good things with a team that has a solid background in open-world game design.
There's currently no release date attached to BioMutant, but it is "expected to launch in 2018" for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
