PlayerUnknown Battlegrounds will not be rolling out patches as often anymore
To this point, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has done a great job of keeping its fans informed of any upcoming changes, and they have done so yet again to report that said changes won't be coming as often. In a post on the game's Steam forum, the developers revealed their new plan for scheduling and expressed that pushing patches out in larger numbers has proven to be more trouble than its worth.
Here's a snippet of the announcement:
"Until the official release of the game, we will not have our scheduled weekly or monthly patches rolling out as often as before. We’ve found internally that being rushed to finish certain features, and having shorter QA test time between pushing updates caused more issues than it solved in regards to maintaining a high standard of quality. We want to put our best content out, and ensure that everything we do is making the game more enjoyable with every update."
Developer Bluehole says that while weekly patches may no longer be a thing, they will reallocate their time to "test servers for significantly longer periods of time and deploy patches and hotfixes when necessary." In this way, Bluehole hopes that each patch they do release from here on out will create fewer problems with an added level of polish.
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds initially launched into Steam's Early Access Program back on March 23rd and has since risen to be one of Steam's most played games. The game will also be coming to Xbox One hopefully sometime before the end of the calendar year, as was announced during Microsoft's E3 2017 press conference.
