Nintendo is uninterested in bringing VR to the Switch anytime soon
If you were hoping that VR would make its way to the Nintendo Switch at some point, you might want to keep those hopes in check. Speaking at Variety‘s Entertainment and Tech Summit Nintendo of America's president and chief operating officer, Reggie Fils-Aime expressed that he felt that there wasn't a whole lot that was "fun" about VR.
Succinctly, he said:
"[The] problem with VR is that there aren’t a lot of experiences that are truly fun."
To be fair, he did say that VR wasn't off the table entirely, but given that Nintendo has already dabbled with it in the past, it doesn't seem likely that they will return to it anytime soon. The Virtual Boy released back in the 1990's and failed to generate any sustained momentum, but given Nintendo's success with Augmented Reality and the 3DS, it would be wiser to expect the company to move further in that direction.
In other Nintendo Switch news, L.A. Noire is getting a port for the console/portable hybrid, complete with all of the game's DLC as well as some platform exclusive gyroscopic, gesture-based controls and contextual touch screen controls for portable detective work.
